Prof. Giovanni Zucchelli earned his degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics, a Diploma in Clinical Periodontology at the University of Göteborg (Sweden) and a Ph.D. in Medical Biotechnologies with a focus on “Biomedical Technologies” at the University of Bologna in 1999.

Currently, he holds the position of Vice-President and Active Member of the Italian Society of Periodontology (SIdP). He is also a member of the European Federation of Periodontology, the American Academy of Periodontology, and serves on the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Esthetic Dentistry. Since 2000, he has been an Associate Professor of Periodontology at the University of Bologna.

Prof. Zucchelli is a prolific author with numerous publications in international journals within the field of periodontology. His contributions have been recognized with awards for scientific research in periodontology both in Europe and the United States. He is a sought-after speaker at major national and international periodontology conferences. Alongside co-authoring two Atlases of Periodontal Plastic Surgery, he contributed the chapter “Mucogingival therapy: periodontal plastic surgery” to Prof. J. Lindhe’s book “Clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry.” Furthermore, he authored the text “Chirurgia Estetica Mucogengivale.”

In his Bologna-based practice, he dedicates himself to private professional activities, specializing in the treatment of complex periodontal cases and aesthetic rehabilitation of gingival tissues on natural teeth and implants. He implements cutting-edge procedures that he has developed, now widely adopted on an international scale.
